pelican above the reflection of the moon in a pool of melted snow.
Paper, ink, 1993, 30 х 20 cm
In small Kazakh fairy-tale it was told about the sad pelican who has fallen in love with moon reflection. His fellows have departed to the south, the first colds had already begun, and he still stood above the pool with moon reflection. But one day in the morning he did not find his beloved, the frost had frozen down water at night and snow had powdered an ice. He saw that the moon was not in the pool anymore, so he recalled his flock, lifted his head to the sky and saw the moon there as it always was and never thought to settle in a pool.
I watched pelicans on the TV and they had such human appearance that reminded me this fairy tale.
