Mothers of Elements
Mother, maternal origin, is one of the fundamental concepts that the child learns as well as folk culture or mythology. In my work I have already addressed the image of Mother many times to symbolically express the energy of creation.
After acquaintance with Karelian-Finnish and Estonian mythology, in which different natural forces are connected with the image of Mother, the idea of the first painting "Mother Earth" appeared. Then, already in the process of working on the first painting, the images of the creative feminine origin appeared in the consciousness, one after another, and I drew them first in the form of sketches. In the process of work my vision of the symbol of Elemental Mother has deepened and therefore in the process of creation almost all images are slightly different from the sketch.
The main dominating objects become face and hands. For me, symbolically, a human face means thought, hands means action. The look of the dominant face in the composition, into the space further and higher than the head of the viewer, means that the mother sees and prevents dangers, protects the future path of the viewer as her child. Direct look at the viewer, means conveying the mother's inherent thought of love and care.
Every painting has a special Mother's look, the fact is that the eyes of all mothers are made in a special multi-layered technique that allows to create an effect of movement, which is visible very well on the original and a little in the photo. Being on the side or below the painting, the viewer sees the Mother's glance directly in the eyes, it is aimed to replenishing forces in the viewer and transferring energy of the element to which the painting is dedicated.
Each painting is made in such a way that while the viewer is moving past, in any direction, in some, different for every person, moment, the Mother looks directly at you; the thought that arose at that moment in the head of the viewer –it is the only and special message for each. The combination of the face, its position and the movement of the hands, expresses a particular action that increases the energy of the given element
